Presentations

‘Pattern: the right moves’

Based on her book ‘2000 Pattern Combinations – a guide to creating pattern’, this talk journeys through the twists and turns of pattern making. It includes pattern from the past and fun and surprise animation. It includes some patterning with shibori.

‘Bolts from the Blue’

Here we look at images of various shibori textiles, and the techniques used to create specific motifs and patterns. Techniques are explained through the use of my own textile samples. Images of indigo dyeing and vats are shown but the focus is on shibori.

‘Dyeing to Create’

This presentation also includes shibori but there is much more on indigo including its biology and history, how it all happens and works with information on how to make a vat and why certain ingredients are required. Other dyes are included also. Again examples of my work are shown.

All presentations are with PowerPoint. A laptop, projector and screen can be provided if necessary in the UK. Please contact Jane should you wish to book a date. A limited number of textiles and Callishibori products are brought to every presentation.
