Ori Nui
Stitching on a single fold makes a ridge as the fabric is stitched ‘proud’ and the row sits ‘proud’. NB. Incorrect title on slide.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/445151354″ css=”.vc_custom_1599555160640{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1599555168904{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”]
HISHAKI-NUI Curves on the fold and Hinode Pattern options
In this method the stitching does not follow the fold but is worked away from and back to the fold. Draw the horizontal fold line. Use a setsquare for the vertical registration line. Check that there is room for the complete shape to be stitched once the fold is made. Here card shapes are 4cm long and 1.5cm deep. (1 ½” long x ⅝ deep) and the last sample is plotted out with the Large Chain Stencil.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/445160044″ css=”.vc_custom_1599555180532{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1599555193374{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”]
MIRU SHIBORI CIRCLE
Here concentric half circle lines are drawn as the stitch guide lines. Draw the horizontal fold line. Place the stencil with notch edge right on the fold line. Mark through the stencil the rows and the position of the notches. Flip the stencil over and draw the outer line. Finish the lines to the fold. Register back and front. Work stitching – start with the outer line. Leave a long thread before cutting off on short rows.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/445341248″ css=”.vc_custom_1599555217454{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1599555227033{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”]
MIRU SHIBORI SQUARE with central bound detail
Draw the horizontal fold line. Place the stencil edge with the notches right on the fold line. Mark through the stencil the rows required, the position of the notches and the centre notch. Flip the stencil over and draw the outer line. Finish the lines to the fold. Register back and front. Begin with the inner row and before completing pop a small bead and finish the row. Forget about the bead until all the other stitching has been completed and pulled up and tied off. Then return and work the binding. Memory prompt skips to binding.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/445356440″ css=”.vc_custom_1599555239315{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1599555248330{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”]
TYING OFF KNOT
Also known as a surgical knot – this is a self-locking knot which keeps the fabric compacted allowing time to work the second part of the knot. Pop a bit of string under the first part between knot and fabric. Then right over left – twice. Left over right – twice. I follow up with a simple reef knot.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/445364513″ css=”.vc_custom_1599555260059{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″ css=”.vc_custom_1599555287172{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;background-color: #f1f1f1 !important;}”][vc_column_text][swpm_login_form][/vc_column_text][button size=”small” target=”_self” hover_type=”default” text=”Return to Level 1 main page” link=”https://janecallender.com/shibori-stream-members-area/shibori-stream-level-1/” margin=”20px 0px 20px 0px”][vc_column_text][swpm_protected for=”3″ do_not_show_protected_msg=”2″]
