Awase Nui Preparation
This variation of awase nui is worked on an elliptical shape. Draw in the shape, not too wide, and before starting to stitch, pinch in the drawn fold lines of the shape.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/449607906″ css=”.vc_custom_1599556589055{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1599556600624{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”]
Awase Nui Stitching
Start stitching just before the point where the two folds come together and continue stitching close to the fold through all four layers. Use the needle point to settle in the shape at the end of the row of stitching.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/449332169/” css=”.vc_custom_1599556718823{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text]
Blocking with Plastic
Draw your miru shibori motif. Draw in the area to be blocked. Lay down the blocking layer of plastic and secure. Trim away the area at the beginning of the rows of stitching. Start to stitch to anchor the shape. Trim away unwanted plastic. Complete the stitching.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/449936627/” css=”.vc_custom_1599556611758{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1599556624587{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”]
Maki Nui Shibori
Draw in the fold line. Draw in the under guide stitching line which can vary in distance from the fold line. Fold the fabric. Use a long but fine needle. Insert it from the front on the lower line and roll it over the fold to insert it again on the lower line. Repeat this several times to ‘collect’ fabric on the needle before pulling the needle and thread through. It can also be worked by inserting the needle from the back and rolling it over front to back rather than back to front.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/450832862″ css=”.vc_custom_1599556637587{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1599556645704{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”]
Twin-Double Needle 1
Prepare two needles with thread separately. Bring them together and make the end knot with all four threads.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/449403790″ css=”.vc_custom_1599556661808{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1599556671590{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”]
Twin-Double Needle 2
Draw the design. Prepare and stitch into a small buffer. Anchor one needle in the fabric whilst working with the other. Take tiny stitches and make a start on one line of the apex of the shape. Anchor that needle. Take tiny stitches close to the first taking care not to split the threads. Pull the two threads up together so that the buffer is settled and steady at the base of the apex. Continue each row till the stitching is completed. Work on the inner sections. Once all the rows have been completed pull up the shapes moving the fabric back down to the big starting knots. Pull up each pair a little at a time.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/449413797″ css=”.vc_custom_1599556682014{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″ css=”.vc_custom_1599556463540{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;background-color: #f1f1f1 !important;}”][vc_column_text][swpm_login_form][/vc_column_text][button size=”small” target=”_self” hover_type=”default” text=”Return to Level 1 main page” link=”https://janecallender.com/shibori-stream-members-area/shibori-stream-level-1/” margin=”25px 0px 25px 0px”][vc_column_text][swpm_protected for=”3″ do_not_show_protected_msg=”2″]
