The traditional approach to a miru shibori motif sees concentric lines evenly placed with rows leaving and returning to the central fold. Following these basic principles, I questioned why these stitch lines have to return to the fold. Instead, the inner line merely brushes the fold before branching out allowing the shape to open up. Notice too how the fold is disguised at the base. See the second image for the surprise motif that appears.
